Team Work
Don’t
Be The Weakest Link
You may think Judo is a one on one sport, two people fighting
against each other with the strongest winning. Well yes when
your on the mat this is true, but how do you think I got there
in top condition?
As in business I am part of a bigger team and similarly if one
part of that team is not motivated to the same result, that all
important medal will be harder to win.
Coming from both a business and sporting career, I can relate
TEAM WORK to both.
In Sales I have worked for a Manufacturer, Distributor and
Reseller company. In all cases there was one thing in common. I
had support in all areas. The marketing department helped
generate new business leads, the pre-sales department prepared
the best possible tender response when needed, the commissioning
department shipped a tested solution on time, the support
department answered technical questions on time and the customer
service department held it all together when things went wrong.
If one of these areas did not perform then the client suffered
and in turn the company gained a bad reputation.
Relate this to sport and I need the same setup. Strength &
Conditioning coaches make sure I am in top condition, Medical
staff make sure I am not injured, Dietitians make sure I am
fuelling my body
correctly
and I, compete for that all important medal. Pull all this
together and you have a recipe for success, as I proved in
Athens where I won a silver.
Don’t be the weakest link in your company. Give 100% after all
if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well.
